The goal of the Montclair Township Health Department is to protect and enhance the health and the quality of life of Montclair residents through preventative activities, coordination of interagency efforts, and interventions designed to promote positive health behaviors.
In keeping with this goal, it is our hope to increase access to healthy foods by making fresh and locally grown produce available at a fair price point. Through partnerships our department will work to expand the distribution of fresh and locally grown produce.
Our department also wishes to promote physically activity by installing bicycle racks and mile markers in township parks and train stations. Our collaboration with Partners for Health will better allow us to meet our goals and serve our community.
United Way of Northern New Jersey in Morris, North Essex, Somerset, Sussex and Warren counties, works to improve people’s lives and strengthen communities by focusing on the building blocks for a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job; the tools needed to achieve financial stability; and good health. Its Pantry Partners Program in the North Essex office supports the Partners For Health’s Healthy Eating Active Living Initiative by bringing healthy foods and fresh produce to area food pantries and soup kitchens through its partnerships with local residents, schools, faith-based organizations, A Lot to Grow Community Garden, Montclair Farmers’ Market, and Montclair State University.
